Biobased climate solutions for social impact

Patricia Osseweijer is full professor and leader of the Biotechnology and Society Section at Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences. She has a Master of Science in Biology (University Utrecht) and a PhD in Science Communication (VU Amsterdam). Her drive is to link technological innovation in sustainable biobased production and water systems with societal development for a sustainable and circular (bio)economy, addressing Sustainable Development Goals. Her multidisciplinary group works on designs of novel value chains for bioproducts and circularity, focussing on integral impact assessment, inclusive innovation, social sustainability, co-creation, public perceptions, communication and ethics. In 2015 she received the (NL) Royal Academy distinguished Lorentz fellowship for integrating social sciences & technology. Patricia is University Ambassador Brazil and coordinator of the 19 MEuro EU-Horizon2020 funded Water-Mining program with 38 public private partners developing demonstrations on nutrient recycling and water recovery for circular water management in several venues in Europe.
