Sustainable fermentation of organic acids for food and bio-based materials applications.

Harald Ruijssenaars obtained his PhD from Wageningen University. He held positions as researcher and scientist at the University of Amsterdam, Hercules, BIRD Engineering and TNO working on a variety of topics in the areas of (whole-cell) biocatalysis, metabolic engineering, laboratory evolution and fermentation development. In 2013, he joined Corbion R&D as Principal and later Corporate Scientist Industrial Microbiology, focusing on fermentation development for biobased polymer building blocks, lactic acid, and food ingredients. He is passionate about developing sustainable technology solutions in conjunction with partners from industry and academia across different disciplines.
